7-KETO DHEA | Metabolism Revving Up

   7-KETO DHEA Research Revealed

7-KETO DHEA -Human Anatomy-LT Side

7-KETO DHEA has been the subject of a lengthy study at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Could 7-KETO, focusing on the content of DHEA, give you just the “revving up” you’ve been searching for?

Having a difficult time with weight control? As a result of aging, metabolism rates drop because the level of our DHEA byproduct, known as 7-KETO, drops. By the time we head into our thirties, our slowing metabolism results in weight gain. But what if you could rev up your “resting” metabolism rate back up to what it was in your youth?

On February 20, 2012, as part of his “Transformation Nation” campaign, Dr. Oz introduced countless numbers of viewers to 7-Keto DHEA which stands out among Weight Loss Supplements. Without question, Dr. Oz is a sure bet when it comes to hearing what he has to say. Since that broadcast, I have over-heard at least two conversations in passing about this “new” 7-KETO DHEA discovery.

Although it could have been new information to most viewers, particularly to those desiring to truly get their weight challenges under control, 7-KETO DHEA is not a new discovery. Nor did Dr. Oz claim it to be so. But thanks again, Dr. Oz simply brought it to the public’s attention.

With all due respect to Dr. Oz, I prefer to see the facts and not just plunge right in to the seemingly next product fad in line. I know Dr. Oz wouldn’t want it any other way.

And The Study Says?

As I discovered through my web search efforts, I found many sites referring to the study but not beyond the fact that there was a study. Just that some research was on the record by the University of Wisconsin, Madison. As echoing one comment I came across, I wanted to see the facts, not just another sales presentation or video.

To see first hand whether or not pure DHEA can actually do a little “revving up” of the metabolism, I tracked down as much of the research as I possibly could. Here are some of the highlights of the University’s research, along with the links for your own review of what I submit to you here:

The University of Wisconsin, Madison performed a decade long research study* in which over 150 DHEA compositions were the subject. Among them was 7-KETO DHEA.

Henry Lardy, Emeritus Professor, Biochemistry, and a pioneer in the research, wrote that DHEA, a steroid, is one step in biological process of converting cholesterol to the sex hormones more commonly known as estrogen and testosterone. DHEA is known for its production in large amounts beginning at about the age of 6 to 8 years of age.

DHEA Health Benefits

What are the apparent benefits of DHEA? Aside from sex hormone conversion, DHEA also:

  • Enhances the immune system activity. DHEA plays a role in weight loss and decreases diabetic elevated blood sugar in obese and diabetic animals.
  • Old mice demonstrated improved memory. Some types of tumors were suppressed as well when relatively large doses of DHEA were used with the animal subjects. The results of which spawned the notion that DHEA was converted to other steroid hormones.
  • In three different clinical trials, 7-KETO DHEA demonstrated well by both men and women and has shown to have no effect in lean body subjects, but causes both fat loss and weight loss in obese body types1.

Further studies involving conversion of DHEA resulted in 19 other steroid compound characterizations evolving from the parent DHEA molecule, some of which are more active than the parent and do not convert to sex hormones, minimizing androgen activity2 while supporting various other physiological processes.

The one compound in the most promising form was 7-KETO DHEA. Also known as DHEA-Acetate-7-one, 3-acetoxy-androst-5-ene-7, 17-dione, or 7-oxo-Dehydroepiandrosterone. 7-KETO DHEA has no adverse effects, even in massive doses, in animals.

A Pioneer In The Field

7-Keto DHEA -Emeritus Professor Lardy-1999. Source -Univ. of Wisconsin, Madison     Professor Lardy wrote his report in 2001. On August 4, 2010, he passed away at the ripe age of 92 years4. One brief paper Professor Lardy published “The Metabolism and Function of Dehydroepiandrosterone” offers more insight into his ongoing research and is worth the time to check out the research on this as well.

Finally, the University’s research reveals that 7-KETO is several times more potent at stimulating thermogenic enzymes of the liver than is DHEA. By promoting the basal metabolism, it increases the lean/adipose ratio5 which results in healthy weight control by safely supporting a leaner Body Mass Index (BMI).

In conclusion, I find it difficult to come up with all the research cited in its entirety, but I have provided you with at least a few published reports about 7-KETO DHEA to sort through yourself. While there are other natural, healthy weight loss options like Garcinia Cambogia, African Mango, and Green Coffee Bean, all of which have also been highly touted, from what I have found leads me to conclude that Dr. Oz, as usual, is highly reliable!
